Now Offering Backflow Testing
One of our own, Justin, has completed the Backflow Assembly Tester course from Camosun College and we are now able to offer this service to our clients! What does this all mean? This course is for plumbers, pipefitters, sprinkler fitters, and steam fitters and others involved in the installation, maintenance, and testing of back flow prevention devices. This course teaches the hydraulic principles of backflow and the testing of backflow prevention assemblies. Successful completion provides certification through the BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA).
Why is this important?
Backflow devices are required by plumbing code to be installed on irrigation systems. The CRD’s regional Cross Connection Control Program is designed to safeguard Greater Victoria's Drinking Water System from contaminated water flowing backwards into the public water system. They require backflow preventers installed in residential irrigation systems to be tested once every three years. The CRD will send you a reminder to test the backflow on your irrigation, and when they do, just give us a call.
